“Recently inspired by “How to be a Retronaut” and my rediscovering of the works of Shimon Attie, I have produced these photographic studies for my MA.
“I’ve learned that the rate at which Britain’s pubs are closing these days isn’t a new phenomenon. The compensation act of 1904 saw many “redundant” licensed premises in my home town of Macclesfield shut down by the local magistrates.
“I’ve superimposed black and white photographs of pubs from the town’s early twentieth century archives on the residential buildings as they stand today. I hope that I have captured some of the essence of the “ghosts of the past” from the works which have inspired me.”
They’re fantastic!…I’d love to have a set of the three prints, if you ever decide to publish. Simply brilliant.
These are wonderful
I agree with those above…these are really fantastic…They look like there’s a celebration going on too.
makes me wonder if one day ,there will be a picture of me superimposed on a web-site like this ,maybe a 100 years time , i hope so !
