Oh, that's "Fort Greene", not Fort Geen. And "Bed-Stuy" is actually Bedford-Stuyvesant. The bottom photo is of a neighborhood now called DUMBO (District Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) where apartments sell for at least a million dollars now... While still a "poverty stricken area", these children appear better nourished, educated and dressed than children of that earlier era. Smiles abound as the children play at special areas set aside for them. Also, compare the clothing! Most of the boys here are half naked, sporting in park and pool. The females are appropriately attired for the weather in the more recent pix! Compare these photos with ones of children playing in the street at the turn of the century.
